Inventory control by using 3D LASER SCANNING
Market
The accurate detection of the current status of certain objects or even entire environments – the term "digital factory" – is superior in the implementation but also in planning specific operations such as rebuilding, expanding, maintenance and repair services. The 3D laser scanning provides the accurate basis for the "as-built documentation" of an existing system - in an unprecedented combination of speed, accuracy, security and integrity. The emphasis is on realistic environmental survey in order to develop accurate, high-resolution models - CAD, CAE and virtual reality applications.
The possibilities
For the non-tactile and precise detection of an environment in 3D Laser Scanning a visual laser radar is used, that covers and simultaneously makes three-dimensional maps of the area ranging from 1-60 m. The rotating 3D laser scanner measures the distance of each point from the device, at the angle of 360° horizontally and 310 ° vertically. The results will saved with 36.000x20.000 pixels in a file. The positions of all measured directions result in the creation of intensity images. The distance images show the geometry of the environment, the intensity images their visual representation. Result of the measuring is a 3D-point cloud which describes the surface geometry of the measured objects very accurately. These 3D images are us as a basis for the creation of CAD / CAE model
